Licence - hackney carriage driver's licences: Outline
Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicles can only be driven by appropriately licensed drivers.
Dual licences can be obtained which allow drivers to drive both hackney carriage and private hire vehicles.
Applicants are only granted a licence if the Council is satisfied that they are 'fit and proper' persons. Checks are made via an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure, Group 2 medical, and driving licence.
Two passport photographs must also be provided.
