The benefits team helps people on low incomes to get the benefits they are entitled to. This not only helps local people and families, it also benefits our local economy and local businesses, as people then spend this money locally.
Around three million people miss out on council tax and housing benefit every year - make sure you claim what you are entitled to.
Whilst we encourage people to claim the benefits they are entitled to, we also work hard to investigate and prosecute anyone who claims too much benefit, to ensure this money can be reclaimed and spent on local services.
