Stray animals

Your Responsibilities and ours Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 Lichfield District Council has a duty to seize any dog that they believe to be a stray and to detain it.

The council encourages responsible dog ownership across the district. Dogs must be kept under control at all times. Environmental Health has the responsibility to collect strays. If your dog is collected by Environmental Health fines and charges may be incurred.
