Friarsgate development
Proposals for a new leisure & retail complex in Lichfield City centre
Since the submission of the formal planning application in June 2006, a number of changes have been made to the Planning Application including:
- The height of the hotel has been lowered
- The heights of the shopping mall and the department store have both been lowered
- Designs for the buildings that face toward St. John's hospital have been revised, including the removal of a storey
- A new pedestrian pathway has been added next to TJ Hughes providing a further level, accessible, way into the development

- Lichfield District Council has published a compulsory purchase order for the Friarsgate site. Find out more about the order and what properties are affected.
- The Government Office for the West Midlands have decided not to call the application in for their approval.
