ePetitions

A guide to ePetitions

ePetitions are an easy way for people who want to show support for, or rally against an issue, to gather and register their interests in a convenient collective manner.

Much like an offline petition, participants can read more about a particular issue and then choose to show their support by including their details and their electronic 'vote'.

ePetitions are currently gaining a lot of press coverage in the UK following the recent launch of the UK government's Number 10 ePetition site. The site allows citizens to launch and sign online petitions that are directly reviewed by the Prime Minister and the team at Number 10.

This section gives you links to lots of information about ePetitions, including how they are being used by local councils in the UK, and should help you consider whether ePetitions can help you/your partners to create a better engaged and responsive community.
