Play Rangers (activities for ages 5 - 13)
Play Rangers
Our team of Play Rangers are visiting local parks, play areas and open spaces to support and encourage children and young people between the ages of 5 and 13 to play outdoors.
Outdoor play can include informal sports, games, activities and play using the natural environment. As well as the usual sports and games, the Play Rangers will have equipment such as tyres, logs, ropes and tarpaulins - all great for creating dens, assault courses or whatever else sparks the imagination!
To find out when the rangers will be near you, check the list below. There's no need to book, just turn up and play!
All regular sessions are FREE of charge

What you need to know for our regular after school sessions
- Places are filled on a first come, first served basis.
- Unaccompanied children aged 8 and over can attend and leave the session whenever they want.*
- Children under 8 can only join in if they are brought to, and picked up from the session by an adult.
- Each child must sign a register and tell us their age and a contact number - This is to monitor numbers, know who they are and ensure we can tailor the sessions to the age group. Contact details are necessary only in case we need to contact a parent or carer.
- Sometimes play can lead to bumps and bruises. The Play Rangers will supervise all activities but the District Council cannot accept liability for typical playtime injuries.
*All children who are brought to a session by an adult, even those over 8, must be collected by an adult who is recognised by the child.
