Apply for pension credits

The new easier way to claim

image

If you're over 60 and on a low income, you may be able entitled to pension credit, council tax benefit and/or housing benefit.

To find out if you are entitled to any of these, contact the national pensions credit helpline on 0800 99 1234 which is run by the Department of Work & Pensions.

Because the Department of Work and Pensions has identified that some people who currently claim pension credit could also be eligible for housing and council tax benefits, if you contact the national helpline, will also be asked if you want to claim these other benefits.

To work out if you are eligible, you will be asked a series of questions over the telephone, which will take approximately five minutes.

If you're not don't claim/aren't entitled to pension credit, you still may be eligible for housing and or council tax benefit. Find out more about how to apply
