Valuation Bands
Most homes will be required to pay Council Tax. There is one bill for each home, whether it is a house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, mobile home or houseboat, and whether it is owned or rented. Each home has been placed by the Government's Valuer into one of eight bands according to its open market capital value at 1 April 1991:
Band A (Up to and Including £40,000)
Band B (£40,001 to £52,000)
Band C (£52,001 to £68,000)
Band D (£68,001 to £88,000)
Band E (£88,001 to £120,000)
Band F (£120,001 to £160,000)
Band G (£160,001 to £320,000)
Band H (More than £320,000)
To find out what band your house is in, together with your payments for the year, you can use our handy Council Tax Calculator. A table of Council Tax charges 2012-2013 by Parish is also available to download in PDF format.
If the Valuation Office has not yet banded your home because it is new, we will use a provisional band estimated by reference to the purchase price.
