Ways you can pay your council tax bill

Easy ways to pay


You can pay your council tax in a number of ways, including: 

By direct debit

The easiest way to pay your council tax is by direct debit. To set up a direct debit, call our customer services team on 01543 308900. Make sure you have your banking details and your council tax reference number to hand. Alternatively you can fill in a direct debit payment form and return it to us by post to Council tax payments team, Frog Lane, Lichfield, Staffs, WS13 6YX.

By credit and debit card

Visit our ePayments section to pay.

At the post office

You can use your payment swipe card at any post office. There is no charge for this service. 

Credit and debit card payments by telephone

Simply call us on 01543 308900 to pay over the phone. Please make sure you have your credit / debit card details and council tax reference number handy.

By cheque

Make your cheque payable to Lichfield District Council and writ your council tax reference number on the reverse of your cheque. Send your cheque to Council tax payments team, Frog Lane, Lichfield, Staffs, WS13 6YX.

You can apply for your instalments to be paid over 12 months. You must apply in writing to Lichfield District Council's Revenues department no later than the 10th March each year if you wish to pay April to March.  After this date, the actual number of instalments we are able to offer will be affected by the date you apply or from when you become liable for Council Tax.  You should not withhold payments while your application is being processed.  You must continue to pay your instalments on your previous bill until you are advised of your revised payments.
