An exciting art exhibition featuring Staffordshire University art students’ work will be held at the Old Mining College Centre this April

Lichfield District Council's Arts Development Officer, Celia Houghton, was delighted to give Staffordshire local art student, Glyn Owen, the opportunity to curate his first art exhibition at the Old Mining College Centre this spring.

The Contemporary Allegories exhibition features the work of 20 emerging artists, who deal with subjects diverse as regeneration, location and identity.

Launching at a special opening night on March 31, the exhibition will open to everyone from 1 April. All are welcome to pop in and see the exhibition weekdays from 9am and 5pm .

Celia Houghton, Arts Development Officer for Lichfield District Council, said: "I was delighted to help these gifted artists in any way I could. The opportunity to take part in a public art exhibition is a great experience. Having seen the works included in the display, I would definitely recommend that as many people as possible come to the Old Mining College Centre to have a look."

Local student Glyn Owen, who is curating the exhibition, added: "I hope everyone will find the Contemporary Allegories exhibition thought provoking and will enjoy it. It is important for students to get the chance to display their work and it will be an interesting experience to have the public critique it."
