Redwood Park Receives Spring Clean

A huge community pride spring clean and safety event took place at Redwood Park Youth and Community Centre, in Chase Terrace, on 24 & 25 March
Local agencies joined forces with around 50 local people to give Redwood Park a huge spring clean this March. The two-day Community Pride event kicked off on Tuesday 24 March when a whole host of local agencies were on hand at Redwood Park Youth and Community Centre to give out safety advice to local people. The agencies, which included Lichfield District Council's Environmental Health officers, the Police, Fire and Rescue Service and Trading Standards, gave out expert advice on a whole range of safety issues from how to keep your kitchen free from harmful germs, through to how to prevent fires at home.
On Wednesday 25 March, the Community Pride spring clean got underway with two litter picks, graffiti removal, and skips so local people could throw away unwanted bulky waste. Community safety stalls were also based at the centre, offering advice on how to stay safe and sound.
Councillor Ben Adams, Cabinet Member for Community, Housing and Health, said: "I'm so pleased the two-day event was such a success. It has given the area a real boost and I hope local people will continue to take pride in their community and keep it spic and span. This was a huge partnership event and I would like to thank everyone involved - including the children from local schools who worked hard to pick up litter from the area."
