Chase Terrace resident fined for dog fouling offence.

Lichfield District Council has successfully prosecuted a man from Chase Terrace after he was seen allowing his dog onto Chase Terrace Bowling Green after hours, and not removing the resulting dog's mess.

Liscumb Bradbury, of Spencer Close in Chase Terrace, attended Cannock Magistrates' Court on Monday 11 January. Having attended two earlier court appearances, where he pleaded not guilty, on the morning of the trial Mr Bradbury changed his plea to guilty.

He was fined £235, ordered to pay the council's costs of £800, and a victim surcharge of £15 - a total of £1,050.

Councillor Ian Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Environmental Protection at Lichfield District Council, said: "We're delighted with this positive result as it was a difficult case to crack. After we received a series of complaints, we put up signs around the bowling green to say dog fouling is an offence and that surveillance would be taking place in the area. Environmental Health officers conducted a number of patrols, and finally witnessed Mr Bradbury in the early hours of the morning, allowing his dog onto the green. This fine is a high price to pay, but not clearing up after your dog is totally unacceptable. We hope this successful prosecution encourages more local dog owners to take responsibility for their pets."
