2012's national Love Parks Week is taking place from 21 to 29 July. This is the annual campaign, organised by the parks charity GreenSpace, which encourages people to get out and enjoy their local parks.

In celebration, Lichfield District Council is inviting everyone to Beacon Park for some bug hunting and pond dipping fun.

The Mini Monsters Bug Hunt and Pond Dipping sessions are on Saturday 21, Sunday 22 and Monday 23 July, from 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 3pm.

Ruth Witczak, Lichfield District Council's Community & Education Officer, said: "From centipedes and beetles to newts and dragonflies, it's always interesting to discover the miniature world of bugs and pond-life that thrive in Beacon Park."

The Mini Monsters Bug Hunt and Pond Dipping is for all ages and costs £1 per person, but must be booked in advance. To reserve your place on a session, please call Ruth Witczak on 308869 or email ruth.witczak@lichfielddc.gov.uk

Love Parks Week aims to raise awareness of the importance of parks and green spaces. It is a platform for hundreds of independent event organisers to join forces in the UK's largest celebration of green spaces.
