Published on Monday, 9th July 2012

Lichfield District residents urged to deal with their voter registration forms promptly

Lichfield District residents will receive their electoral registration forms through the post earlier than usual this year. This is to ensure the electoral register is as up to date as possible ahead of the first Police and Crime Commissioner elections on Thursday 15 November 2012.

Residents are being encouraged to deal with their registration form promptly to make sure they can have their say this November.

If there are no changes to be made to the details, registration can take place electronically using the internet, telephone or text. Where changes need to be made, the form can be completed and returned by post in the envelope provided.

Forms were posted out to all households on 5 July. Residents who don't receive their form before 13 July can contact the elections team on 01543 308125 or print off individual voter registration forms at http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/.

Nina Dawes, Electoral Registration Officer for Lichfield District, said: "Registering to vote is quick and simple. All you have to do is update the annual canvass form with details of everyone who lives in your household and is eligible to vote, and return it to us as soon as possible. These are new elections. If you want your say, you must make sure you're registered to vote."

For more information, contact your local Electoral Registration Officer on 01543 308125
