Site Management
The Countryside Team carries out conservation and habitat management
works across approximately 500 hectares within the Lichfield District.
These sites include Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs),
Sites of Biological Importance (SBIs) and Local Nature Reserves (LNRs).
The Countryside team run an annual events program allowing members
of the public to get closer to the local wildlife and learn more about
the animals and plants of the district.
We also run practical conservation events throughout the year
allowing volunteers to get actively involved in local conservation on
some of the areas most beautiful wildlife sites.
So if you're interested in learning to identify birds from their
songs, want to get a taste of working in conservation, discover about
your or learn how to lay a hedge why not see
what events are happening near you?
Environmental Education for Schools
The Countryside Team is also actively engaged in providing
environmental education for schools in the Lichfield district.
We are able to both visit schools to teach students about the rare
habitats, plants and animals within the Lichfield area as well as
provide nature walks and onsite learning events for school groups
wishing to visit our sites.
If you're a teacher interested in visiting a conservation site or
having the Countryside Team visit your school please contact Chris Walsh
(Biodiversity Officer) at christopher.walsh@lichfieldc.gov.uk.
