Stowe Fields outdoor gym
Stowe Fields will soon be home to a new outdoor gym, thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad - a club of volunteers who work to improve the quality of life in their local and wider communities.
The club raised £17,000 over the past three years, from events such as the ever popular Cars in the Park.
Lichfield District Council has been working with the Rotary Club to make sure Stowe Fields will be a good site for the outdoor gym, and that the new facility will not detract from the beautiful views of the cathedral and pool.
The district council is now managing the project, and will take over ownership of the outdoor gym once it is complete.
Work to install the new gym near to the children's play area on Stowe Fields will take place later this summer, and will be followed by extra tree planting in the autumn.
The gym will be free for everyone to use. It will feature state-of-the-art gym equipment that is robust enough to face the outdoor elements, but look appropriate for the setting.
This page will be soon updated with progress of the works and tips on using the equipment. Introductory training sessions will be also be held in the future.
