Chasewater Country Park
Dog Walking
Dog walkers are always welcome at Chasewater Country Park. To help protect rare birds we are asking dog walkers to follow a voluntary code of conduct when visiting.
Rare birds, such as the little ringed plover and nightjar nest on the shoreline and among the heather and heathland at the park from March to September.
This means it is especially important for dog owners to be extra vigilant, keeping their dogs under control and away from sites where birds might be nesting on the ground.
To find out more, please telephone the Countryside team on 01543 308164 or Chasewater Rangers on 01543 370607.
Chasewater dam improvements
Please note, the whole of the reservoir bed is out of bounds for everyone, including dogs, while the improvements to Chasewater's eastern dam take place throughout 2010. This is because the mud is dangerous and could be far deeper than it appears. Find out more about these major improvement works at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/chasewaterdamblog
Voluntary Code of Conduct
Chasewater is a special place for its wildlife, so when visiting Chasewater Country Park with your dog please remember to:
- Be aware of the exclusion and close control areas for dogs, which includes the whole of the reservoir bed, see Exclusion and Close Control Areas for Dogs
- Keep your dog on a short lead or under close control in heathland areas where rare birds are nesting on the ground.
- Always clean up after your dog and dispose of any waste in the appropriate bins. Remember to take special care to not leave dog mess on paths or areas where people walk
