Household Waste Recycling Centres, or 'tips' in the district are run by Staffordshire County Council.

At the centres, there are facilities to recycle newspapers, magazines, telephone directories, low energy light bulbs, glass bottles, jars, fridges, freezers, scrap metal, car batteries, oil and much more.

To find out more, as well as what you can recycle at each of the tips, click the centre nearest to you:

To find and get directions to local tips, you can also use our Interactive Recycling Centre Finder.

Before you take your unwanted items to the tip, remember, charity shops are always looking for good quality items of clothing, records, tapes and bric-a-brac.

You can also visit the Lichfield Freecycle website, which aims to reduce the amount of rubbish we throw away by giving people an opportunity to give away things that they don't need. remember, one man's rubbish is another man's treasure!

If you have any queries please contact Staffordshire County Council customer services on 0300 111 8000 or email recycling@staffordshire.gov.uk

Please ask a site attendant for assistance on arrival.

If you are having the home improvements work undertaken by a professional builder and decorator it might be worth while getting them to provide a quote or fixed price for them to take away the waste materials.

Alternatively you can purchase a bulk bag collection service from a D.I.Y store or obtain a skip hire from a commercial waste management operator.
