Donate (don't dump) old household items

A new home for your old household items

If you are getting rid of old furniture or household items that are still in good working order, why not consider donating them, rather than dumping them. There are a number of ways you can do this locally:

recycle.co.uk is a free service that allows members to list unwanted items for charities to claim if they wish to do so. After 48 hours the listing becomes available to the general public if it is no use to the charity partners.

Donate to the Staffordshire Furniture Reuse Network - a 'not-for-profit' organisations that specialise in selling hugely discounted second hand furniture to the most in need, mainly low income families, or people setting up home for the first time.

Give to a local person on Freecycle - is open to all local residents who want to recycle items instead of throwing them away. Whether you've got an unwanted chair, fax machine or piano, simply send an email offering it to other members of the group. The only rule is that all the items you offer must be free.
