Winter in Lichfield District

Winter is here and with it, comes snow and ice! We've put this section together to give you the latest information winter services from Lichfield District Council and Staffordshire County Council, including gritting, grit bins and bin collections.

Bin collections

If your bin wasn't emptied on Friday 18 January, it won't be collected until next week, depending on weather conditions. Find out more.

Frozen brown bins

If your brown bin isn't emptied, it may be because the contents are frozen. If this happens we will be able to take extra brown bin waste on your next usual brown bin collection day. Please put any extra brown bin waste in open bags at the side of the bin.

You can use the Highways Agency's information services to check for delays on the major roads. They work closely with the Met Office, to provide you with the latest information on weather conditions too.

When you're on the road, pay attention to the changing road, traffic and weather conditions. Be ready to slow down and take more care if you need to, particularly on bends and exposed roads. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security - even if you drive every day on the same stretch of road.
