Education and training
Current legislation requires that all food handlers are trained 'commensurate to the tasks they are undertaking'.
Put simply, this means food handlers should have enough knowledge of food safety to do the job properly and protect the food from contamination.
This training can be delivered in-house by management for jobs which have low levels of food handling, but for those in a skilled or supervisory role a formal qualification in food hygiene is recommended.
We regularly run a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering course, which is the updated version of the former Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
This course gives candidates a background knowledge of the basic principles of good food hygiene and gives successful candidates a nationally recognised qualification, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
For information on the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, please call our team on 01543 308744 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
We also get involved with health education in schools and youth groups through various projects including Food Safety Week. We are happy to talk to groups such as scouts or youth groups about hand washing, nutrition and food safety, or to community interest groups about the role of environmental health.
