You will need a temporary event notice (TEN) if you want to carry out a licensable activity on unlicensed premises in England or Wales (including trading from the street).

Licensable activities include, but are not limited to, selling alcohol, serving alcohol to members of a private club and providing entertainment, such as music or dancing.

You will also need a TEN if a particular licensable activity is not included in the terms of your existing licence, e.g. holding a wedding reception at a community centre.

Events with a TEN can last for up to 168 hours and must involve no more than 499 people.

You must give at least ten working days' notice, before the day on which the event period begins, for your application to be processed.
