Twig Man Day at Beacon Park round-up

Sasha and Abigail

From a unicorn to a one-eyed monster, plenty of creativity was on display at Beacon Park’s Twig Man Day.

Saturday 13 May saw Beacon Park’s first Twig Man Day event with 26 people enjoying making small sculptures out of air drying clay.

Starting at the edge of the woodland, armed with just a lump of clay and googly eyes, participants went on a scavenger hunt to find natural objects to add to their clay figures.

An amazing variety of sculptures were made on the day, including a pterosaur, unicorn, fairy, swan, hedgehog, a number of people and a one eyed monster called Phillip!

Ruth Witczak, from Lichfield District Council’s parks team, said:

“It was a lovely event, despite the threat of rain, and brilliant to see the beaming smiles of people delighted with their creations. It was also a pleasant surprise that adults joined in the fun as well as children.”
