In the last year, thousands of local people have taken up Lichfield District & Tamworth Borough’s joint garden waste service.
Registration is now open, and Lichfield District Council is urging local residents to sign up again to have their brown bins emptied in 2019.
The council has held 2018’s prices and it will cost £36 per garden waste bin for fortnightly collections between January and December 2019. Customers will receive a maximum of 23 collections, as the council does not empty brown bins over Christmas.
Councillor David Leytham, Cabinet Member for Operational Services, Leisure & Waste, said:
“Thank you to everyone who signed up to our garden waste service in the last year.
“We’re now reminding local residents that they will need to sign up again if they would like their brown bins emptied in 2019.
“It costs the same regardless of when you sign up during the year, and your annual subscription will always end in December. Because of this it makes sense to register for 2019 before the first collection in January, so you can get a full year’s worth of collections.”
Sign up for the 2019 garden waste service at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/mygardenbin or call the shared waste service on 0345 002 0022.
“It is important to remember that your brown bin will not be emptied in 2019 unless you are signed up and you’ve displayed your new sticker on your garden waste bin.
“We are also encouraging anyone who signed up in 2018 not to cover up their 2018 sticker with their new sticker. This is so we know to continue to empty your garden waste bin for the rest of 2018,” added Cllr Leytham.
