Hundreds attend BRS consultation event

BRS public event 2

Around 300 people dropped into Lichfield’s Guildhall on Wednesday 6 March to find out more and give their views on the Birmingham Road Site.

Lichfield District Council invited local residents, with an interest in the future development of the Birmingham Road Site, to a public event to find out about the work of the cross-party member working group and to give their views on the potential development mix.

The event was a chance to share progress on the project so far and to hear about the short-term plans for the site. It included presentations from officers and the opportunity to talk to key council members and officers.

The public event followed a round table event involving the council’s cross-party member task group and key organisations, such as Lichfield City Council and Lichfield BID on 27 February.

Councillor Mike Wilcox, Leader of Lichfield District Council, said:

“I’m really pleased so many local people, groups and stakeholders have got involved in the initial phases of the Birmingham Road Site development process.

“Both events have given us the opportunity to find out what local people and key organisations want for the area, within the framework of the wider city centre and the context of the changing nature of the high street and different economic landscape.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us at the events. We’ve had lots of ideas and views, which the members task group will go through when looking at the next stage in the planning process.

“If you didn’t manage to make it to either of the events, but would like to give us your ideas for what the Birmingham Road Site could include, please email your thoughts to birminghamroad@lichfielddc.gov.uk.”

These events are the first step in creating a vision for the long-term future development of the Birmingham Road Site. More detailed consultation events will be planned, along with our design partners.
