On Thursday 24 May a number of small controlled explosions were carried out by army bomb disposal officers, following the discovery of a number of mortar shells at a building site off Milestone Way in Chasetown, Burntwood. The A5190 was closed while the detonations were carried out and a 100m cordon was set up as a precaution for public safety, which will be removed when the area has been fully checked.People are reminded to avoid the area if at all possible and are thanked once again for their patience and cooperation.

Bird Street car park will be closing over the bank holiday weekend to make room for the Lichfield Bower.
The car park will close to new entries from midday on Friday 25 May. Those vehicles already in the area are asked to ensure that they move by 4pm.
The car park will reopen on the morning of Wednesday 30 May.
