Environmental crime strategy consultation

Lichfield District Council

We know that having a clean and tidy district is really important to our residents and visitors, and we work hard to keep the district free of litter, fly-tipping and dog fouling.

In reality, the people who commit environmental crimes are in the minority, and individuals can be responsible for a great deal of the problems we see.

To illustrate how we will tackle environmental crime and how we will aim to deter offenders, we have put together a draft Environmental Crime Strategy 2018-2021.

This strategy is about:

  • educating the public on how everyone can help us to tackle environmental crimes
  • how we will use our powers to enforce the law, taking a zero tolerance approach to the perpetrators

The overall aim is to reduce the amount of environmental crime across the district, which in turn will reduce the clean-up costs to the council and local tax payers.

We now need your views on the draft strategy. Please read it and send your comments to pollution@lichfielddc.gov.uk or in writing to:

Environmental Health, District Council House, Frog Lane, Lichfield, Staffordshire WS13 6ZE.

The deadline to comment is by 5pm on Thursday 1 November 2018.
