Tackling dog fouling
Anyone responsible for a dog must always remove its mess, even if it's off the lead. It is your duty to keep an eye on your dog and to clean up after it.
Our environmental health team patrols local streets that have been highlighted as dog fouling hot spots to catch and fine anyone seen not clearing up after their dog/s. Fixed penalty notices (fines) can be up to £80.
If dog fouling is a problem in your area, please help us to target our patrols by telling us:
- the time/s the dog fouling is happening
- the place/s the dog fouling is happening
- a description of the dog and the owner
- if the owner is using a car, a description and registration number
- the address of the owner (if you know it)
Please report as much of this information as you can to our environmental health team on 01543 308725 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you don't have any information, but just want dog fouling cleaned up in your area (on a pavement), please contact our customer services on 01543 308000 or email email@example.com and tell us where it is. Our street cleansing team will then remove it the next time they are scheduled to work in your area.
