If you need to get rid of a bulky items, such as a sofa or fridge, why not find out if we can help? We offer a bulky waste collection service and can collect items from your home for a small cost. You can book the service up to a month in advance.

How to book a collection

To book your bulky waste collection, please call our joint waste team on 0345 002 0022.

Our team will need to check availability of the rounds before you can be booked a slot. If you claim housing benefit, we'll also need to confirm your entitlement to apply the reduced price.

You'll need to pay for your collections up front. We can accept cheques, or credit and debit cards.

Please note:

  • this payment is non-refundable
  • if you are paying by cash/cheque, please do not just deposit it in the cash box in reception - you will need to visit reception and complete a form along with the payment

We hope to launch online bookings in the coming months.

How much does a bulky waste collection cost?

Where do I have to leave my items for collection?

Any bulky waste must be placed outside your property along with your usual bins. We cannot collect items from within your property.

What other ways can I get rid of bulky items?

Before you throw away an item that's still usable, why not consider donating it to a charity who can ensure it reaches someone who needs it - from a functioning fridge, through to an old sofa. Find out more.

Visit a local household recycling centre

If you can transport your items, visit one of our neighbourhood recycling centres (or tips), where you can recycle bulky items including turf and soil, bricks and rubble, fridges and freezers, car batteries and more.

Retailer recycling schemes

If you are buying new white goods (such as fridges and freezers, or even large items of furniture) speak to your new supplier and see if they can remove your old item. Sometimes this will be offered free of charge and other times they may charge a small fee.
