Help and support for private landlords
If you are a private landlord, there is plenty of help and advice on offer:
Lichfield district private landlords' forum
This quarterly forum, held in conjunction with the National landlords' association, gives private landlords the opportunity to meet with other landlords, council officers and other relevant organisations to discuss issues relating to the private rented sector. There are guest speakers from public, private and commercial organisations.
The forum is a means of consulting landlords, updating them on the latest regulations and legislation, making them aware of new products and services and providing training.
Over the last two years, we have held two joint meetings per year with Tamworth private sector landlords forum

Midland Landlord Accreditation Scheme
We are a member of Homestamp, a consortium of 17 Midlands authorities, West Midlands Police and Fire Services, and private sector representatives, including three national landlord associations. The consortium aims to encourage the supply of good quality, safe and secure rented accommodation.
As a Homestamp member, the council can offer landlords access to the Midlands Landlord Accreditation Scheme (MLAS), a voluntary initiative that sets standards relating to the management and physical condition of private rented property.
The government supports accreditation schemes, which publicly acknowledge good landlords and distance them from those who are less scrupulous. Over 600 Midlands landlords have signed up to the MLAS Code of Conduct, which sets the professional 'kite mark' standard for management in the private rented sector across the Midlands.

2010 stock condition survey
In 2010 we commissioned CPC Ltd to carry out a private sector stock condition survey to help us get a detailed picture of housing conditions in the private sector.
This information gives us a useful evidence base that is helping us to formulate strategies and statistical returns to central government.
The final report can be viewed in the 2010 private sector stock condition survey
