If you have recently moved into or within Lichfield District, you will need to register to vote. Register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
It only takes five minutes. You'll need your National Insurance Number and date of birth to hand. If you know someone who needs to register but who hasn't got access to the internet, please contact our elections team on 01543 308125.
What is IER?
All voters need to register individually, rather than as a household. Find out more about Individual Electoral Registration.
Can I vote by post or proxy?
If you can't make it to the polling station on election day, you can either register to vote by post or ask someone to vote on your behalf, via a proxy vote.
The electoral register
The electoral register or electoral roll is a record of everyone who is registered to vote in an election. The Electoral Registration Officer makes and keeps two versions of the electoral register - the full register and the open register. The full electoral register lists everyone who is entitled to vote. The law says who can have a copy of the full register and what they can use it for.
The open register can be bought by anyone who asks for a copy and they may use it for any purpose. You can opt out of your details appearing on the open register. If you want to opt out, please contact:
