With a deal having been established following the end of the transition period, new rules apply to things like travel and doing business with Europe.

Our economic development team works with partners, including the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Federation of Small Businesses covering Lichfield District, to support local businesses and provide information to understand the impact of Brexit and how the deal effects your sector/operation.

A government website has been developed so citizens and businesses can identify what they need to do to follow the new deal rules. This includes videos and step by step guides, making it easy and simple for audiences to follow and take action if needed. The government have produced a summary explainer to the international treaty with a high level overview of the changes.

Through the use of the website, you’ll be able to find out:

  • what your business needs to do to abide by the new rules
  • what’s changed in your industry
  • information on specific rules and regulations

Great Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership

Businesses across the local enterprise partnership area, which includes Lichfield District, can access free support from a Brexit account management service.

Dedicated Brexit account managers are available to support businesses through all the changes that exiting the EU will bring.

The Federation of Small Businesses has provided an action summary of what businesses can do now that a new deal has been signed. It focuses upon getting your action plan together, staying up to date with information and becoming data secure. It also includes getting your imports and exports in order and informative articles, and living and working in the UK after the transition period.

West Midlands growth hubs: EU support

A new website has been launched by several regional growth hubs to provide impartial information to help businesses stay informed on new Brexit trading rules.

The website provides information on the local and national business support that is available for SMEs to find the help they need. Events and workshops details are also included which are being held to guide businesses. An EU Transition Support Questionnaire is available to request specialist support needed by businesses.
