OPFCC funding for crime reduction initiatives

The Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner has allocated funding for community safety projects across three main on-going funding programmes. In addition the Staffordshire Commissioner also offers funding for 'Space', a scheme which runs every summer to provide fun activities for children and young people. Find out more below:

Space

Since 2015, the Staffordshire Commissioner has provided funding for the Space programme which offers free, positive diversionary activities for young people during the school summer holidays. It aims to reduce levels of anti-social behaviour reported to Staffordshire Police, promote personal health, social development and team building and provide new experiences for young people in the county. The scheme is co-ordinated and managed in Lichfield District by us on behalf of the Lichfield District Community Safety Partnership. In 2019, Lichfield District Community Safety Partnership secured £21,015 which was shared between 6 providers to deliver a range of activities over the summer. The projects provided activities including sport, wildlife activities, crafts, and fun days benefitting around 3,500 children and young people from across the district.

Proceeds of Crime Fund

The commissioner’s Proceeds of Crime Fund offers grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 for projects which support local community safety partnership activity. The funding pot is made up of money seized from criminals as Staffordshire Police continue to strip offenders of their assets.

The fund is allocated in two rounds each year. The funding deadlines have passed for 2020 but you can visit the Staffordshire Commissioner's website to find out about the most recently funded projects.

People Power Fund

The commissioner's People Power Fund sets out to empower local communities to find solutions to community safety problems in their area through small grants of between £100 and £2,000.

The fund is allocated in two rounds each year. The funding deadlines have passed for 2019 but you can visit the Staffordshire Commissioner's website to find out about the most recently funded projects.

Locality Deal Fund

The commissioner’s Locality Deal Fund allocates money to local areas through working in partnership with local district and borough councils. In Lichfield, the Locality Deal funding is managed and administered by the community safety partnership. Currently, the funding is used to support a range of projects targeted around our community safety priorities of:

  • anti-social behaviour
  • domestic abuse
  • public reassurance and awareness raising
  • vulnerable people and alcohol misuse
  • county lines.

We are also looking at developing projects which address issues facing the city centre, such as shoplifting and city centre anti-social behaviour.

Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Annual Review

Each year the PFCC produces an annual review of progress against the action plan. An annual report is provided, as well as a review considered by the Police, Fire and Crime Panel and their response to the plan.
