Empty property review

Council tax payers across Lichfield District who, according to our records, have a property which is unoccupied and unfurnished, will be checked this August (2021), to make sure the information we hold is correct.

The review forms part of the council’s measures to prevent and detect fraud and protect the public purse.

We have appointed Capita Local Government Services to carry out a comprehensive review. They will work with Experian, the credit reference agency, using data-matching technology to identify where properties classed as unoccupied and unfurnished are now occupied.
