Lichfield District businesses are invited to a free workshop to find out about trading successfully across borders following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union.

With a Brexit deal having been agreed in principle with the EU, it is now more important than ever that businesses prepare for Brexit.

This is why Lichfield District Council is hosting a free Preparing Your Business for Brexit workshop presented by Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce on 20 January.

The afternoon workshop will give companies either a refresher or an insight into trading internationally post Brexit, and they will gain an overview of a number of related topics, including:

  • export documentation
  • duties and tariffs
  • customs procedures, including imports, transitional simplified procedures, deferment and VAT
  • customs compliance
  • free trade agreements
  • economic operator registration and identification numbers
  • HM Revenues and Customs support

Councillor Iain Eadie, Cabinet Member for Investment, Economic Growth & Tourism, said:

“Leaving the European Union will have a big impact on a significant number of businesses, particularly any that trade with countries in Europe.

“Join Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce for a workshop on how to get your business ‘Brexit ready’. It has been designed to help you learn about the potential implications and to gain an overview of trading across borders.”

The Preparing Your Business for Brexit workshop will take place at District Council House on Frog Lane in Lichfield on Monday 20 January between 1pm and 4.30pm. Places are free but need to be booked by calling 01782 202222 or by emailing [email protected].
