Local attractions and businesses have come together to give residents and shoppers an extra treat by running special offers and discounts through the new Visit Lichfield Card.

The card is being launched to help encourage people to visit, shop, dine and stay locally.

People will be able to find out about the special offers and discounts on the Visit Lichfield website. All participating businesses will have stickers in their window, so passers-by know they are taking part. Card holders will simply need to show their card to the participating business to receive the special offer or discount.

The free Visit Lichfield Card is available to anyone and can be applied for online or in person at Lichfield’s Visitor Information Centre in St Mary’s on the Market Square.

To celebrate the launch, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member responsible for tourism, Councillor Iain Eadie, visited four of the local venues that have put forward special offers, which fall under the headings of ‘visit’, ‘shop’, ‘dine’ and ‘stay’.

First on the whistle-stop tour was The Hub in St Mary’s, which is offering a cake and a hot drink for the discounted price of £3.50.

Next was a visit to The George Hotel, which has two offers running, including a discount on gin afternoon teas and a special offer autumn break.

This was followed by a trip to Lichfield Antiques Centre, which is offering 10 percent off most items over £20.

Erasmus Darwin House was the final stop on the tour, which is offering a 10 percent discount in the museum’s gift shop.

Councillor Iain Eadie said:

“It was brilliant to meet with some of the local businesses and attractions who are running offers through the Visit Lichfield Card.

“The special offers and discounts are a wonderful way for our district attractions, shops, restaurants and accommodation to give something back to their loyal visitors and customers. I hope people will visit their local shops, restaurants and attractions and help them in turn recover from the Covid lockdown.

“We’re hoping even more district businesses will take part by sending us their exclusive special offers. In return we’ll help raise their profile on our Visit Lichfield website, through our social media channels and regular email newsletters.”
