Lichfield Community Lottery – Good Cause Launch
Do you help at a local charity? Do you volunteer for a community group? Could your group use some extra money to buy that necessary piece of equipment that will benefit the people you help? Or perhaps you know a sports club that needs more funding. Then come along to the Good Cause Launch.
Lichfield District Council is getting set to launch a weekly lottery this spring, to raise money for good causes across the district and to give players a chance to win a £25,000 jackpot plus smaller prizes.
To get the ball rolling, local clubs, voluntary organisations and charities are being invited to a virtual ‘Good Cause Launch’ on Monday 18 January 2021 at 5pm.
The online event will be a chance to find out more about how good causes can benefit from signing up to be involved in the lottery.
Councillor Ashley Yeates, Cabinet Member for Community Engagement, said:
“We’re really excited to be launching the Lichfield Community Lottery next year because it's all about charities, the voluntary sector and not-for-profit organisations. It's about extra support for our community.
“For small charities and local good causes, getting this money each month will be a fun way to get people to give them some extra support.
“We hope lots of local good causes will join us for the Good Cause Launch, to find out how the lottery will work and how to sign up.”
The lottery management company, Gatherwell, has been appointed to run the scheme. They have worked with organisations that have raised thousands of pounds in extra funding that has gone back into their local communities.
Ben Speare, Gatherwell's Managing Director, said:
"We are delighted Gatherwell has been awarded the opportunity to run the new Lichfield Community Lottery. We're looking forward to helping support Lichfield district’s local causes in partnership with Lichfield District Council.”
The Good Cause Launch will take place online on Monday 18 January 2021 from 5pm to 6pm.
