Transfer of two city centre car parks to Three Spires

From 1 March 2021 Backcester Lane car park and Gresley Row car park in Lichfield city centre will be operated by Three Spires Shopping Centre. This means city centre car park season ticket holders will no longer be able to use their passes for Backcester Lane car park.

Lichfield District Council has managed the two car parks on behalf of Three Spires Shopping Centre since they were first built. Three Spires has now decided to take them in-house and will run them from 1 March onwards.

This means from next week car park season ticket holders will not be able to use them in Backcester Lane car park. However, the passes are still valid in all other long-stay city centre car parks managed by the district council.

As well as ticket machines, Three Spires is setting up Connect Cashless for both car parks. This is a pay by phone or pay by app scheme. It will allow users to pay for their parking either for the duration of their stay or they can buy a season ticket for as long as is needed. Tickets will be paperless to help protect the environment. Councillor Liz Little, Cabinet Member responsible for Economic Development, said:

“We wanted to let our car park users know about the change in management of these two city centre car parks. From now on any enquiries about Backcester Lane and Gresley Row car parks should be directed to Three Spires Shopping Centre.”
