On the hunt for local tourist guides
Visit Lichfield is inviting anyone with a passion for local history to an open day to find out about how to become a tour guide.
Lichfield District Council’s tourism service, Visit Lichfield, runs a series of tours over the year, including city tours, ghost walks, and more.
Now the team is looking to boost its number of tour guides and is holding a drop-in open day at Tourist Information in Lichfield Library on Tuesday 20 November 2018, between 12noon and 3pm.
The open day will be a chance to find out more about a guide’s role, and will include information about the training programme that will provide guides with the skills to lead, plan and deliver local tours.
Councillor Ian, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Environment & Development Services, said:
“We’re holding this open day so that anyone who is interested in exploring the opportunity to become a guide can come along and find out more. We’re looking for people with excellent communication skills, an interest in local history and architecture, and who enjoy working with the public.”
The tour guide role is based on a casual position, with working hours determined by the demand for tours and prospective guide availability.
To find out more come along to the open day or contact Aileen Beesley, Tourism Officer, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01543 308210.
