Visit Lichfield has Christmas all wrapped up with a host of events planned to help take the stress out of gift-buying, give you that warm festive glow and a nostalgic view of how Christmas in the city used to be.

Discounts and offers will be revealed daily in the Lichfield Christmas Countdown so keep an eye on our social media pages from 1 to 24 December for a variety of exciting deals courtesy of participating businesses across the area.

Keep the family entertained while you are shopping in the city with our new augmented reality storytrail, Hunt For The Lost Toys.

This innovative experience, which is accessed via a smartphone, sees players guided by a group of superheroes called Luminauts as they search for missing Christmas presents and release cheeky Christmas imps that burst into life on the screen in AR.

The free trail, produced by Visit Lichfield in conjunction with developers High Street Safari, works on any smart device without the need for download, takes forty-five minutes to complete and provides a digital fun pack at the end.

This is a great time of year to enjoy Visit Lichfield’s tours. Wrap up warm and take a relaxed walk around the city centre with our friendly and knowledgeable guides discovering more about Lichfield’s rich history and stories of Christmas past.

Tours are available on Thursday 15 and 22 December at 2pm, and Saturday 17 December at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, the latter tour concluding at Lichfield Cathedral to coincide with the outdoor carols around the tree event.

If the weather isn’t chilling you enough, and you’re looking for some spine-tingling tales this December, why not try Lichfield’s Ghostly Christmas tour on Friday 16 at 7pm.

The traditional Christmas Lights Switch On events are always popular and are taking place in Burntwood this Saturday 26 November and in Lichfield on Sunday 27 November.

The Burntwood Christmas Festival and Lights Switch On takes place at Sankeys Corner on Saturday from 4pm to 7pm.

The event includes a market and a host of free attractions including funfair rides, a visit with Santa with gift included, a giant snow globe and the Chase Playbus and music from the 1st Chase Terrace Band.

The Lichfield Christmas Lights Switch On takes place on Sunday in Market Square.

The event runs from 1pm with live music before carols from Christ Church Primary School Choir at 4.30pm and the big switch on at 5pm where a special visit by Santa is expected.
