Efficiency plan 2016 - 2020

We have produced an efficiency plan 2016 - 2020 that we will submit to government.

Our plan will help us to achieve a four-year funding settlement which will increase our certainty around our financial forecasts and modelling.

Our plan also sets out how we are going to achieve significant levels of savings/additional income to close our current funding gap of £1.5m by 2019/20.

Our plan has four strands:

  • In year efficiency savings/income generation.
  • Our Fit for the Future (F4F) efficiency savings/income generation. This is our ongoing programme and is designed to manage the change that will be needed across our council and services to meet all of the necessary changes following the fundamental national review of local government finances.
  • Our Fit for the Future (F4F) transformational change. This is the element of the F4F programme designed to reshape and redesign our council and our services into one that is fit for the future.
  • Growing our business rates and council tax base. We are seeking to increase the number of businesses and homes in our district, not only to provide places for people to live and work, but also to help us become financially self-sufficient over the medium term. Examples include maximising the potential of our assets, unlocking development potential on allocated sites and working with partners, such as Local Enterprise Partnerships, to maximise infrastructure investment.
