Coronavirus community support

We have a caring community in Lichfield District and as the COVID-19 (coronavirus) causes more people to stay at home, people naturally want to help and support others.

Local voluntary and community groups are there to help people in need, already supporting older members of the community through groups and activities. With the need to self-isolate and because many of these groups and activities rely on very active volunteers who are over 70, most activities are being suspended. However, organisations and groups are working to continue to support their members at home, for example through telephone befriending, delivering meals and delivering shopping.

You too can help by registering yourself to offer community support.

Lichfield coronavirus relief fund

If you want to help but are unable to volunteer, you could contribute to the Lichfield coronavirus relief fund. We have set up a Just Giving page to raise funds to support people and communities across Lichfield District that have been affected by COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Thank you to all the volunteers and to everyone who supports the fund - you are amazing!

Help your neighbours

People who are self-isolating are most likely to need help at a local level, and being a good neighbour can help meet these needs.

Some of us may know our neighbours and will already be supporting them.

Those of us who don’t know our neighbours can offer support by filling in a viral kindness card and dropping it through a neighbour’s letterbox. These are the cards that have been shared on social media, where you leave your details and offer help with doing the shopping, posting letters, picking up urgent supplies and making a friendly phone call.
