District council and parish council elections will take place on Thursday 4 May 2023.
From May 2023, voters in England will need to show photo ID to vote at polling stations.
The requirement to show ID will initially apply to:
- Local elections
- Police and Crime Commissioner elections
- UK parliamentary by-elections
From October 2023 the requirement to show ID will also apply to UK general elections.
If you don't have accepted photo ID, you will be able to apply for a free voter ID documen prior to the electionst, which is known as a Voter Authority Certificate.
