A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is an order which can be used to impose conditions to control anti-social behaviour in a specified area or areas.
They are enforced by our authorised officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and police officers. Each PSPO is reviewed at least every three years.
Control of night fishing
We are seeking your views on a proposed control of night fishing at Stowe Pool. Night fishing is already prohibited at Stowe Pool and anglers must obtain a day or season ticket in order to fish.
This PSPO will give us and other authorised officers the power to enforce these conditions to avoid anti-social behaviour and improve the quality of life for people in the area.
The proposed PSPO will impose the following conditions:
- Fishing will not be permitted between 21:30 and 06:00 on any day between 1 April and 30 September.
- Fishing will not be permitted between 16:30 and 07:30 on any day between 1 October and 31 March.
- Any person fishing at any time on any day must leave the area when directed to do so by an authorised person.
Penalties
If the PSPO is introduced, anyone breaching the conditions will be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £100.
Your views
We are keen to hear the views of our stakeholders and the wider public on the proposed PSPO, which can be viewed in full here. Please review the PSPO before completing this short questionnaire.
We are particularly interested in your views around the time restrictions for night fishing and whether there is support for differing times during winter and summer months.
Please note that the consultation does not cover whether night fishing should be permitted or not. Night fishing is already prohibited at Stowe Pool. This PSPO will give authorised officers the powers to require people to leave if they are fishing outside the permitted times or without a permit.
