We are reaffirming our commitment to health, wellbeing, and active lifestyles, with major investments in leisure facilities and the appointment of a new director to lead the charge.
Construction of the brand-new £11.3 million leisure centre at Stychbrook Park is well underway. Set to open in December, the centre will replace the ageing Friary Grange Sports Centre and offer a 25-metre swimming pool, 80-station gym, spin and dance studios, a community room, and an outdoor 3G pitch with changing rooms.
Meanwhile, the £600,000 Boosting Beacon project is enhancing Beacon Park with exciting new features, including padel courts, adventure golf, and a reconfigured and enhanced pitch-and-putt course.
Burntwood Leisure Centre is also receiving upgrades. Following the successful addition of a climbing wall, skatepark, and refurbished outdoor courts, the centre will soon benefit from a new gym floor and improved wet side changing facilities.
Our leisure services are delivered through its wholly-owned company LWMTS, and to ensure the success of the current projects and future initiatives, Jim Faulkner has been appointed as its new Leisure Director.
Mr Faulker said:
“I’m tremendously excited by the investment we’re making across the district.
“Our goal is to help residents become more active, more often, and for longer. These new and upgraded facilities will be key in achieving that. My focus will be on delivering excellent, affordable leisure experiences that truly benefit the community.”
Councillor Andy Smith, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Leisure and Major Projects, added:
“I’m delighted to welcome Jim to the team. He brings a wealth of experience in the leisure sector and a strong track record of delivering top-quality services. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to improve and expand leisure opportunities for residents.”
