Our Joint Waste Service with Tamworth Borough Council has rolled out a fleet of new refuse and recycling trucks to support delivery of bin collections to local households in the coming years.

The new fleet of 26 state-of-the-art vehicles have replaced an ageing fleet, which had reached the end of its working life, and are now in use across the district. Thanks to sponsorship from Bartec Municipal and FAUN Zoeller, two of the vehicles have already been fitted with eye-catching livery promoting the Joint Waste Service’s Recycle For Good campaign, which aims to inspire residents to recycle and reuse more of the waste they produce.

The new vehicles have been supplied through a contract hire agreement with NRG Riverside, which includes full maintenance and servicing provided on-site at the Burntwood depot.

Councillor Phil Whitehouse, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Operational Services, Parks and Waste, said:

“Our fantastic new fleet represents a major investment in the essential services our residents rely on every week. Thanks to our partnership with NRG Riverside, we’re confident we’ll be able to continue to deliver reliable bin collections to residents across the district and drive-up recycling rates. The new trucks are more environmentally friendly and are also packed with new safety features which will better support our fantastic crew of drivers and loaders and ensure their safety and well-being on their rounds.”

Councillor David Foster, Tamworth Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Environmental Sustainability, Waste, Recycling and Transport, said:

“These state-of-the-art vehicles reflect our commitment to delivering great local services to our residents. We’re delighted that two of the fleet have been liveried with Recycle for Good graphics, which are not only eye-catching but will hopefully remind people to stop and think before throwing away items that could be reused or recycled.”

Gary Wilson, Operations Director at NRG Riverside, said:

“We’re proud to partner with Lichfield District Council and Tamworth Borough Council to provide a modern, efficient fleet that supports their ambitions for improved waste and recycling services. These vehicles are built for performance, safety, and sustainability, and our on-site maintenance provision at Burntwood will ensure maximum uptime and reliability for crews and residents alike.”

Tim Hobbs, CEO at Bartec Municipal Technologies, which has sponsored the livery on the trucks and is a key partner in the Recycle for Good campaign, said:

“We’re thrilled to support the Recycle for Good campaign, a dynamic and innovative initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation. The new eye-catching wrapped vehicles will boost community awareness. We’re proud to be part of a campaign that is championing a cleaner, greener world where every resident plays a crucial role in creating a sustainable future.”

The remainder of the fleet is available to sponsor, providing local businesses the opportunity to support the community and promote their brand while helping spread the message about recycling and sustainability.
