We are offering eight new apprenticeships as part of its ongoing commitment to attracting fresh talent into local government and helping people build meaningful careers.
The roles – six Business Analyst Apprentices and two Youth Support Worker Apprentices – will give successful candidates the chance to make a real difference in their community while gaining valuable skills and qualifications.
Business Analyst Apprentices will work at the heart of the council’s transformation programme, assessing how the needs of the district can be met through smarter working, business change, and innovative digital solutions.Youth Support Worker Apprentices will be seconded to Liberty Jamboree, a Staffordshire-based organisation that supports children and young adults (aged 8–35) with learning and/or physical disabilities, neurodiversity, and/or Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Liberty Jamboree’s mission is to empower young people to reach their potential, gain independence, and actively contribute to society, free from disadvantage or barriers.
All eight roles are full-time, two-year fixed-term contracts offering hands-on experience, mentoring, and the opportunity to study towards a recognised qualification. They are open to people looking to take the first step in their career or to retrain in a new sector.
To help prospective candidates learn more, the council is hosting a dedicated Recruitment Day at District Council House on Tuesday 2 September.
Simon Fletcher, Chief Executive of Lichfield District Council, said:
“Over the past few years our apprenticeship scheme has been a great success, attracting talented candidates who have gone on to improve services for residents with their innovative work.
“We are delighted to be able to offer more apprenticeship opportunities this year. The successful candidates will gain a strong grounding in local government and the potential for real career progression.
“We hope to see lots of applications and I wish all the prospective candidates the very best of luck.”
Joe Garfield, a current apprentice, added:
“Being an apprentice at Lichfield District Council has been a great opportunity for my career and personal development. I have learnt so much in my role as a digital apprentice and have gained hands on experience throughout.
“I would thoroughly recommend the apprenticeship opportunities to anyone who is interested.”
