Communities across Lichfield District are continuing to benefit from a £75,000 investment supporting a range of local environmental improvement projects to help keep neighbourhoods cleaner, greener and safer for residents and visitors.

The Clean and Green programme, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), has been supporting small-scale improvement projects this year, led by local ward councillors.

Projects already delivered this year through the scheme include improvements and clean-up works to roundabouts in Burntwood, new bins in Harlaston to help tackle dog fouling, clearance of a footpath on London Road in Bourne Vale to improve pedestrian access, new fencing and hedge planting at Stonnall playing fields as part of wider flood management works, enhancements to Boley Cottage Lane, and the installation of a concrete chess board at Burntwood Leisure Centre for community use.

Further projects are already underway or planned across the district over the coming year.

Councillor Phil Whitehouse, Cabinet Member for Operational Services, Parks and Waste, said:

“This has helped local ward councillors, including myself, to deliver visible improvements in our local communities - whether that’s improving safety, tidying public spaces or making areas more accessible for everyone.

“Thanks to this £75,000 funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we have been able to deliver some really meaningful improvements, and we’ve been delighted to help local ward councillors make a difference in their areas.”

“We’re pleased with the progress already being made and look forward to sharing more completed projects with residents over the coming months.”

Further updates on Clean and Green projects will be shared throughout the year as schemes are delivered across the district.
