The Alrewas neighbourhood plan was made on 9 October 2018.
Final decision statement
On 9 October 2018, our cabinet agreed to make the Alrewas neighbourhood plan, which now forms a part of the development plan for Lichfield District. As required by the neighbourhood planning regulations, a decision statement on the 'making' of the plan has been published.
The referendum for the Alrewas neighbourhood plan took place on 5 September 2018 and local residents voted in favour - view the Alrewas neighbourhood referendum result - September 2018
- 94.5% voted in favour
- 5.27% voted against
- 26.2% turnout
The neighbourhood plan was independently examined in 2018 and the examiner recommended that subject to some modifications the plan should proceed to referendum. We agreed with the examiner’s report and voted to progress the plan to referendum at the cabinet meeting on 12 June 2018.

On 12 June 2018, our cabinet agreed to proceed to referendum on the draft Alrewas neighbourhood plan. As required by the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations a decision statement has been published.
The examination of the Alrewas neighbourhood plan was undertaken my Mr Nigel McGurk BSc (Hons) MCD MBA MRTPI. The examination concluded in April 2018. The independent examiners report is now available.

Submission of Alrewas neighbourhood plan (2018)
Following the withdrawal of the Alrewas neighbourhood plan from examination in 2016, further work has been undertaken by the parish council and the plan has now been submitted to us (02 January 2018). In accordance with section 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, we are consulting on the Alrewas neighbourhood plan. The consultation closed on Wednesday 27 February 2018.

It is our responsibility to collate all the representations and pass them onto the independent examiner, who will look at them and the plan documents when assessing whether the plan meets the basic conditions and can therefore proceed to referendum.

Alrewas Parish Council have completed the final draft of their neighbourhood plan and recently undertook the six week pre-submission consultation period required by The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The consultation closed on Wednesday 2 July. The document can be viewed on Alrewas Parish Council's website.
SEA & HRA screening report
Alrewas Parish Council requested that we undertake a screening process of the draft neighbourhood plan in 2014 and 2017 to determine the need for strategic environmental assessment (SEA) and habitat regulations assessment (HRA). The reports can be viewed via the link below:
The Alrewas Neighbourhood Area has been designated having been approved 19 February 2013 (the relevant body making the application is Alrewas Parish Council).
