We are very grateful to residents for their patience last week when we were unable to empty bins due to the snow and ice, which made most roads across the district unpassable and unsafe for our crews to operate on.

We are delighted that the snow and ice has now largely gone and we will be out and about this week trying to catch up on last week's missed collections and we're really grateful for your ongoing patience and understanding whilst this takes place.

Catching up on missed bins is no small operation - for every day we have missed we have to try to empty an additional 16,000 bins alongside emptying the bins we are already due to empty today. We have created a catch up plan, which we hope is easy to follow, but may be subject to change:

Please put your bins/bags out today (Monday 12 January) and please give us until Friday (16 January) to empty them. If you have excess card, we recommend you put it out in line with our catch up plan, and keep an eye on the website during the week incase our plans change. Please don't report your bin as missed until Friday 16 January.

This means if we have to make any changes to our catch up plan, your bins/bags will be emptied and any excess cardboard won't go soggy and breakdown ont the street.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
